Hi! We’re Flo & Stu, and we’re excited to welcome you to George & John’s On Queen’s, our first short-term rental property in the heart of historic downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.

Our story together began 10 years ago in Ontario, where we met and started building a life together. But Newfoundland — and St. John’s in particular — has always remained an important part of our story.

For Flo, owning a home in downtown St. John’s has a very special meaning. I grew up in downtown St. John’s, surrounded by the colourful homes, historic streets, unique architecture and unmistakable character of the city. Although life took me away from Newfoundland, I have always felt a strong connection to St. John’s and was continually drawn back to the idea of one day owning and restoring a heritage home in the downtown area.

2024 became an especially memorable year for us. Not only did we get married, but it was also the year we took the leap and purchased a 135-year-old heritage home on Queen’s Road in downtown St. John’s. In many ways, it marked the beginning of two new adventures for us — starting our life together as a married couple and beginning the journey of bringing this incredible old home back to life.

The name George & John’s On Queen’s is especially meaningful to us. George and John were our fathers, both of whom have passed away. Naming the home in their honour is our way of keeping their memories close and making them part of this new chapter in our lives. We hope the home reflects some of the things that family has always meant to us — a place to gather, share stories, laugh, celebrate and create memories together.

We fell in love with the house for its history, character and incredible potential. What followed was a true labour of love — two years of extensive renovations carefully designed to preserve the charm and personality of this beautiful old home while transforming it into a comfortable, modern and stylish place for guests to experience St. John’s.

For us, George & John’s On Queen’s is much more than a short-term rental. It brings together Flo’s roots in downtown St. John’s, our story as a couple, the memory of our fathers, and our shared passion for restoring a piece of the city’s history.

After two years of renovations, we’re incredibly proud to finally open the doors to George & John’s On Queen’s and share this special home — and the city we love — with guests from near and far.
